The perennial rosemary is a herb that belongs to the family of Lamiaceae. It is typical of the Mediterranean and is characterized by small aromatic evergreen leaves like needles.

The name rosemary comes from the Latin romsarinus which means dew of the sea.

The rosemary is rich in antioxidants and contains components a high amount of iron, calcium and vitamin B6.

The rosemary is used both in the kitchen, in perfumery, in medicine and is also used as an ornamental plant.

The leaves, fresh or dried, are commonly used in Mediterranean cuisine as a spice.

The plant is also often used as a repellent for insects, twigs and dried are burnt to scent the rooms.

The essential oil obtained from the leaves is used in perfumery for the production of Cologne.

Finally, the rosemary has a wide area of use as a natural remedy.
